1. What Scriptus is

Scriptus is a macOS app for voice input. You hold a key and speak; once you release it, the recording is recognised, the text is tidied up and pasted at the cursor.

With Scriptus access, the recording is sent to the Scriptus server, which forwards it to Groq for speech recognition. The Scriptus server then passes the recognised text to Anthropic Claude via OpenRouter only to add punctuation and capitalisation, fix obvious misspellings and remove hesitations such as “uh” and “um”. The model is not asked to reword the text.

In the app settings you can use your own recognition provider key (“your own key”) instead of Scriptus access.

These terms cover the scriptus.online website, the user account and the Scriptus app for macOS.

2. Account and sign-in

An account is only needed for Scriptus access. Sign-in uses a single-use link or code sent to your email address; there is no password. You are responsible for access to your mailbox and for actions taken after signing in with your link or code.

One account is meant for one person. Sharing a sign-in or an invite code with third parties is not allowed.

3. Closed beta and Scriptus access

• Scriptus access is granted by an invite code entered on the account page and works within a weekly word limit. The limit renews every Monday; the remaining amount and the renewal date are shown in your account. An administrator may change the limit for a specific account.
• An invitation may be limited by expiry date and number of uses. One account may redeem only one invitation.
• We may change the limit, suspend or revoke Scriptus access at any time, including on suspected breach of these terms. Your own key keeps working.
• The macOS build is distributed only through the link on this website and in your account. It is signed with Scriptus's own certificate, not an Apple Developer ID, and is not notarised by Apple yet, so macOS asks you to confirm opening it on first launch.
• The app updates itself: it checks for a new version at launch and then every 4 hours.

4. Your own key

If you enter your own provider key in the settings (for example Deepgram, Groq or OpenAI), the app talks to that provider directly, bypassing the Scriptus server. You are bound by that provider's terms and bear its charges. Scriptus limits do not apply. The key is stored on your Mac, encrypted with the macOS keychain, and is never sent to Scriptus.

5. Acceptable use

• Do not circumvent limits, automate requests to the Scriptus server or use Scriptus access outside the Scriptus app.
• Do not use other people's keys, codes or accounts.
• Do not use Scriptus to break the law, the rights of others or the terms of the recognition and text processing providers.

6. What we do not promise

Scriptus is in a closed beta and is provided “as is”. We do not guarantee the accuracy of recognition or text cleanup, uninterrupted availability or continued Scriptus access in the future. The model can make mistakes, so you review the ready text and decide what to do with it. The app never sends text on its own.

We do not publish accuracy figures, uptime figures or testimonials until they are measured and verified.

7. Deletion and termination

You can delete your account from the account page at any time. We may terminate access on breach of these terms. Local data on your Mac stays under your control in both cases.

8. Changes to the terms

Changes are published on this page with a new date. We announce material changes by email to the account address.
