How it works
One key, no windows. Scriptus stays out of your way.
Press the key and speak
The fn key starts recording; you can change it in settings. A small recording indicator shows that Scriptus is listening.
Let go and the text is ready
Speech is recognised in a second or two, then commas, full stops and capitals are added and the “um”s are dropped.
Text lands at your cursor
Scriptus pastes where you were typing. It never presses Enter, so you read and send it yourself.
Your words stay yours
Many tools “improve” what you said and change the meaning. Scriptus adds punctuation and removes hesitations. It never rewords or reorders.

What is kept, and where
Short answer: we keep neither the audio nor the text of your dictation.
On your Mac
Dictation history, dictionary and settings. Only you see them, and you can delete them in the app.
In transit through the Scriptus server
Audio goes to Groq for recognition, text to Claude via OpenRouter for punctuation. The server passes them on and keeps none of it.
In Scriptus accounting
Numbers only: how many words, how long the recording was, and when. They drive the weekly limit and your stats in the account.
Set up in five minutes
The build is signed with our own certificate for now, so macOS asks you to confirm the first launch.

Download and move to Applications
Open Scriptus-arm64.dmg and drag Scriptus into Applications.
Allow the first launch
If macOS will not open it: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway.
Grant two permissions
Microphone, to hear you. Accessibility, to paste text into other apps.
Sign in and enter your invite code
Sign in with your email, here or in the app, and enter the code in your account. Dictation works from then on.
Updates arrive on their own. After an update macOS may ask once for your keychain password — choose “Always Allow”.
Questions and answers
How much does it cost?
During the closed beta, access is by invitation and free. The beta has a weekly word limit; you can see what is left in your account.
How do I get an invitation?
Write to support@scriptus.online and tell us briefly where you plan to dictate. The code arrives in our reply.
Does Scriptus work offline?
No. Recognition runs on the server, so dictation needs a network. History and settings open without one.
What happens to my audio and text?
Audio goes to the Scriptus server and on to Groq for recognition; text goes to Claude for punctuation. The server stores nothing. See the privacy policy for details.
Can Scriptus change the meaning of what I said?
It should not. The cleanup rules allow only punctuation, capitals, spelling fixes and removing “um”s. If the cleaned text differs a lot in length from what you said, the raw transcript is pasted instead.
Why does macOS ask for permissions and a password?
We do not have an Apple Developer certificate yet, so the first launch needs a manual confirmation, and after updates macOS may ask once for your keychain password. Both go away with an Apple certificate.
Which Macs are supported?
Apple Silicon Macs (M1 or later) on macOS 13 Ventura or later. There is no Intel build yet.
How do I delete my account?
In your account, under Profile. Your email, access and usage records are deleted. History on your Mac stays until you delete it in the app.
